Let's Take Courage to New Heights!

Although you are weary, the thought of reaching your goal energizes you. You’re getting closer with every step. Suddenly, you hear the sound of rushing water and soon you see the source: a raging river looms large in front of you. The river is wide. Its rapids are intimidating. You don’t see any way to cross it, but you know that you must.

As you get closer to the water’s edge, your eyes spot something remarkable. There is a set of stepping stones leading to the opposite shore. They look sturdy and safe. Seeing them gives you hope. You pause for a moment and wonder how the stepping stone path got there. Perhaps another traveler created it, then left it in place, knowing someone would someday need it to reach their destination.

As you cross the river, one stepping stone at a time, you silently thank the person who helped you overcome this major obstacle. You may not know who they are, but their caring act reminds you that you are never alone.

Children diagnosed with cancer and other serious illnesses face many challenges along their treatment journey. Their path is never a straight one. The highs and lows, fears and anxieties, achievements and disappointments.

Today, Claire is a four-year-old princess warrior who inspires many with her tenacity, smile and bravery. The beads she wears around her neck are a visual representation of how much she has accomplished so far. She is so proud of each bead. We are thankful to Beads of Courage for helping us conquer this journey.”
