It is often
said that home is where the heart is. At Beads of Courage, we have a heart for
helping. We help little warriors fighting big battles against cancer and other
serious illnesses. We help teens and young adults know that they are never alone
in their fight for life. Through innovative arts-in-medicine programs, we help these
courageous kids, their families and caregivers stay strong and resilient on
every step of their treatment journey.
For the past 20 years, Beads of Courage has helped hundreds of thousands of children and youth experience hope and healing while undergoing treatment for cancer, congenital heart defects, serious chronic illnesses such as cystic fibrosis and sickle cell anemia, burns and traumatic injuries, as well as families with a baby in the NICU. Every bead we give to a child enrolled in the flagship Beads of Courage program is spirit-lifting, which can be lifesaving in the moment.
Moving to a larger building where we can house all of our operations under one roof will not only improve efficiency and productivity. It will provide space for volunteers to help us package and mail more than 14 million beads annually. We will be able to hold large fundraising events and host classes to teach beadmaking skills to children and adults. We will proudly welcome potential donors to explore our mission in person and see how their support is put to use daily helping children face the biggest and scariest challenges any of us will ever face.
As we celebrate our 20th year, it is our turn to ask for help. We have launched a Forever Home campaign to raise $250,000 to help Beads of Courage purchase a building in Tucson that will serve as our forever home – a home where our heart for helping has room to grow and thrive. There is no greater way to prepare for our future than to find our
